Headies award: Wizkid, others win at Headies 2022

Nigerian Singers, Olamide, Wizkid, and Adekunle Gold have won individual awards at the ongoing 2022 Headies in Atlanta, United States of America. Petrol tanker exploded in Ogun state

  A petrol-laden tanker has exploded at the boundary between Olambe and Matogun, in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State. The truck driver was said to have conveyed the petrol to a filling station in the area when he lost control of the vehicle due to the bad road.   It was gathered that the truck crashed and the tank fell to the ground, got ruptured and the petrol spilled on the road and into the drainage channel in the area. It was also gathered that a spark occurred as the petrol was spilling and the fire razed shops and buildings in the area.  An eyewitness said the fire had caused panic in the community, adding that no fewer than 10 houses had been razed by the fire. He said, “A lot of people have abandoned their homes; some people are still looking for their children. Nigeria may be stripped of CWG gold

Nigeria stands to be stripped of the women’s 4x100m relay gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, after an unnamed member of the quartet failed a doping test. The gold winning team comprises Tobi Amusan, Rosemary Chukwuma, Favour Ofili and Grace Nwokocha. It was learnt that the Athletics Federation of Nigeria had been notified of the development by the World Anti-Doping Agency, as the confirmation of the B sample is still being awaited. As a rule, the team would be stripped of the medal and the performance, if the athlete is not exonerated. AFN president Tonobok Okowa confirmed the report with Saturday PUNCH.
